Hey everyone!
My name is Rhian and I am "the girl in the big blue bus! (or at least I will be soon)This blog will chronicle every step along the way as a convert Big Blue, my 1987 International School Bus, into a tiny home on wheels!
I'm starting completely from square one in that I bought my bus as a bus with no skoolie alterations having been made (it still had seats in it and everything) and I will be teaching myself all of the necessary skills for the conversion as I go along!
I will do my best to include every detail of the process in my posts- from major wins to colossal failures and everything in between. I hope that you find my skoolie journey to be interesting and entertaining; but, most of all, I hope you find it informative and helpful for those of you who might be interested in converting a skoolie of your very own!
A little about me:
I have had a passion for adventure for as long as I can remember and this bus is just one facet of that wanderlust. I grew up living in a few different states and visiting new places around the country- something I have done my best to continue in my adult life.
No matter where life may take me, I will always call Florida home. I spent a great deal of my life there and even stuck around to get my B.S. in Coastal Biology and Environmental Studies from UNF! While working towards my degree I participated in a variety of research programs but was most involved with the shark lab on campus where I got to go out and collect data by catching and tagging local shark and ray species! After college, I packed up and moved to Idaho to serve a term with AmeriCorps at a National Wildlife Refuge! The move was definitely a bit intimidating as I had never visited the state and I didn't no a single person out here. As scary as it was, I am SO glad that I was brave enough to make the move as I have experienced so many new things after just a year! I actually found my bus here in Idaho and my hope is that the bus life will allow me to continue to travel and experience new places and try new things all while living simply and treating every day as a new and exciting adventure!
